Jinpen Crayfish Gains International Fame

"This year, Jinpen Town's deep-processed crayfish have been exported to the EU, Russia, Japan, and South Korea. Now the daily transaction volume has reached 50,000 to 60,000 kilograms," said Zhang Xinhong, head of the Jinpen Crayfish Trading Center, Datonghu District, Yiyang City, as he oversaw crayfish loading on May 22, 2025.

There are more than 1,266 hectares of crayfish aquaculture area in Jinpen Town, with an annual output value of 50 million yuan. Jinpen crayfish are of superior quality and are very popular among consumers, thanks to the deep-water aquaculture and soybean, corn, and wheat bran feeding. Gradually gaining fame for its crayfish, Jinpen Town has received an export order for 2,000 tonnes of crayfish from a Zhejiang aquatic company this year.

Since mid-April, the trading market of Jinpen crayfish has become exceptionally hot, with a daily trading volume standing at about 50,000 kilograms. Up to now, more than 1,000 tonnes of Jinpen crayfish have been sold out this year.

"Our crayfish trading market serves more than 1,000 crayfish farmers in the town. Numerous farmers come here to trade every day. This year, the crayfish has got access to international market. The average household profits range from 50,000 to 100,000 yuan. It has become an important industry to boost rural revitalization of our town," Zhang Xinhong remarked happily.
